out and about: public house brunch summer '24
Y’all know how we end up at public house on the regular. The whole family finds it a hit. So guess how excited we were to find out that public house now has brunch!
Saturday and sunday from 10 to 12. It’s seriously the best of both worlds. And I for one? Can’t wait for football season.
This might just be the micheladas of all micheladas. And I don’t say that lightly considering I have my own tried and true version. But the spices were right on, and the beer paired perfectly. Definitely a must order.
Next up was the mimosa flight. And the very kind people at public house let me swap out the pineapple for an extra cran raspberry… ‘cause allergies.
The cran raspberry was my fav.
And I love that they use wycliff brut - it’s what they used to serve at draft republic, and i miss it. There’s this undertone of pear that works really well as a mimosa.
Pro tip: pay extra to order the sausage. It was so good.
Pro pro tip: pair the baguette with the calabrese, the gouda, and the marmalade. Seriously made the best bite ever with the marmalade perfectly balancing the spice of the salami. Someone may have been making this at home on repeat ever since.
Also super partial to the grainy mustard. On everything.
Seriously. this was a great charcuterie. One of the favorites we’ve had recently. And such the perfect start to brunch. All my favorite bites.
I’m always gonna get the breakfast burrito. Always. It’s got to be the san diegan in me - we take our burritos very seriously, and at every meal.
Our flour tortilla was actually spinach, and I totally appreciated the flavor impact. I think it was better than a regular flour one would be. Hoping they keep the change.
What I also loved was that the fresh pico was inside the tortilla, but the saucey rojo and verde were also served with the tortilla, so you got the best of both worlds.
And y’all know how much we love public house’s tater tots… we always ask to sub out the fries so it was really great to have them as a part of the plate.
Jamie was super excited to see pliny on the menu. It’s one of his favorite ipa’s but not always easily found.
Seriously the gold standard of ipas.
I love a good sour. And my most favorite of all sours is a cherry.
This cherry was sublime. It was definitely the perfect sour. Definitely worth a try.
Okay, hold up. We need a whole moment for these maple flavored waffle fries. Thank goodness the sando comes with a whole side of them, because the ones on it just aren’t enough.
I wasn’t sure how the whole maple waffle fries were gonna play as a substitute for waffles, and I gotta tell you I may only eat my chicken and waffles like this. The potato adds such a better depth of flavor than batter, especially when drizzled with syrup and tastes sweet and savory at the same time.
If you order anything. Order this.
There’s chocolate, and then there’s chocolate, and then there are these three types of chocolate all layered together to create the perfect chocolatey bite.
‘Cause really? What’s brunch without a little sweet something?
