carne asada fries
While nachos are great, nothing takes the place of fries, and most notably carne asada fries.
Not only are they easy (you can totally swap out store bought ingredients), but they make a great late night snack.
I always like to have a little something greasy to pull out around 10 or 11 when entertaining at night. Something to cut through the alcohol, to curb late night hunger, and to prevent inebriated drivers from driving.
These fries are the perfect solution, as all the components can be made before hand, then run under the broiler until crispy and warm.
Ingredients:
homemade air fried fries or store bought crispy shoestring fries
1 lb flank steak
siete taco seasoning
shredded cheddar cheese
sliced black olives
diced tomatoes
diced onions
crema
guacamole, homemade or store bought
salsa, homemade or store bought
Directions:
Preheat oven to broil.
Rub flank steak with siete seasoning. Broil for 5 minutes on each side and remove to rest. Cut into bite sized pieces.
Spread fries out on a sheet pan. Top with cheddar cheese. If you pre-cooked the meat, and it’s cold, add to cheese. If you just cooked it, you can wait to add.
Place in oven. Don’t place directly under the broiler, in order to prevent premature browning. Watch closely and remove when cheese has melted 3 - 5 minutes.
Top with (meat), olives, onions, tomatoes, crema, guacamole, and salsa.
