out and about: beaumont's
There’s something special about a restaurant that was developed by your neighbors and named for the street you grew up on.
It’s even more special, when that restaurant happens to have excellent food, a constantly revolving menu, and is devoured by not one, but all four of your kids. Around here, we call that a win.
I love the happy hour special spicy tequila mule. Since I’m allergic to vodka, I have to order all my mules with tequila so it was nice to have this as an in place option.
Plus the heat was just perfect. Not too spicy, and not so under spiced that you can’t even taste it.
There were several new items on the menu from the last time we grabbed it to go, so we were excited to try them.
First up was the ahi crudo. I love that it was served with nori, because that’s how I like to eat my ahi (or any other leftover fish for that matter) at home. It was light and tasty, and the tomatoes gave a perfect amount of fresh element. And, I do love a good tomato in my crudo.
The next new dish was the grilled mexican prawn tostada. Mexican flavors are nothing new for beaumonts, in fact my husbands favorite go to is always the carnitas lettuce wraps, so we knew we’d be in good hands.
I loved the addition of lemon grass, such a clever way to get citrus in the dish. And don’t get me started on the baby turnips…I never thought to use them as a replacement for radishes, but watch out, I’m gonna try.
One of my kiddos got the crispy salmon (and promptly took a bite before I could take a picture), which has long been one of my favorite dishes. Every once in a while they change up the preparation (my favorite was when it was made with brussels), but it’s always crispy and tender.
The other kiddos?
Two of them got the kid’s chicken fingers, even though they have aged well out of the kids menu, and will often order other things, the chicken fingers at beaumont’s have always been their favorite of anywhere.
Number 4 got the char burger, as did we… but he ordered his plain cheese with an extra side of fries, on the side.
We chose the truffle fries with ours, and they are so good.
When you’re in the mood for a burger, beaumont’s has one of the best around. We’re also all pretty partial to the viking burger, named after my old (and now my kiddo’s) high school mascot.
There’s just something about a neighborhood spot, that stands the test of time, that makes everyone in our rather large family happy.
