out and about: disney b-day
Avy recently turned 13. And all she wanted for her bday was to have an overnight slumber party at disney with her bff. Which works out perfectly since said bff’s mom is also one of my bff’s. Double slumber party. Here’s a snippet of a few of our favorite things.
We spent day 1 in downtown disney, shopping, wandering, eating and drinking. First up was brunch at naples. We didn’t mean to have brunch - we thought we’d be having lunch, so it was a surprise.
Started out with the old stand-by of tom collins and margarita. Both have been ordered before, and both will be ordered again.
Since my favorite salad wasn’t on the menu, I threw caution to the wind and tried the milanese.
While the chicken was a bit over cooked, the flavor was spot on. My egg was also perfectly runny, which is more than I can say about the rest of the table.
Not my go-to dish, but I wouldn’t shy away from ordering it again.
I waxed poetic about this drink before… going so far as to make my own version. You’re welcome. And, you can thank me later. Just go make it.
Avs loves ordering mocktails when at disney. Mostly because they are all about sparkling water and fruit. Two of her favorite things.
This grapefruit fizz was no exception. And has totally made the re-order list.
This was one item I wanted to try while we were there. I kept seeing it all over instagram. A pretzel bun filled with garlic cheese, and served with marinara if you so desired. I really wanted to see if it was worth the hype.
And, let me assure you, it totally is. So much melty cheese, and the perfect amount of garlic. I dipped in the marinara sauce, because we bought it, and i didn’t want to waste it - but no one else did. You definitely don’t need it, but I enjoyed it with. Prolly wouldn’t add it again though. Like I said, you really don’t need it. Unless you are a marinara stan.
The girls enjoyed it so much they were begging for another one... Each.
While we were there, hollywood backlot was doing something kinda cool. You could pick your lemonade flavor, and then pick what alcohol you wanted - vodka, tequila, or gin.
It was kinda the best mix and match you could find. I’m a little sad it was only there for such a short time, and won’t be on the menu when we go back.
All in all, we tried some new things, savored some old, and had a grand old time all around.
