you need this: the moist maker
Please tell me you’re a friends fan. Otherwise, this isn’t going to make much sense to you.
Friends was one of the only shows to have a thanksgiving episode. Every. Single. Year. And, every single year, we watch all the turkey day episodes while prepping for our own thanksgiving feast.
One year, ross is particulary angry… i believe it is after his second, or was it his third, divorce. His boss eats his clearly labeled leftover thanksgiving sandwich, made for him by his sister, and professional chef, monica. This is particularly distressing, because monica’s turkey sandwich contains a moist maker.
The moist maker is a third piece of bread, set in the middle of the sandwich, and soaked with leftover gravy. And let me tell you. It makes the sandwich.
And so do the layers of leftover brussel sprouts, turkey, cranberry jelly, and mashed potatoes. The sourdough bread doesn’t hurt either.
I make my sandwich by topping the side of one slice of sourdough with yellow mustard. Then another slice with mayo.
I pre-heat left-over turkey slices, mashed potatoes, and gravy.
I top the mayo with brussles, and the mustard with turkey. Cranberry jelly goes on top of the turkey, and mashed potatoes go over the brussles.
A third piece of sourdough is then slathered with lots of gravy.
Sliced avocados go over the cranberries, and that third piece of bread? Gravy side down over the mashed potatoes.
Then the whole thing is put together, and cut in half.
Your sandwich can be made of whatever leftover you have and love the most. As long as you include a moist maker in the middle.
