quick tip: regrowing green onions
Chalk this one up to quarantine.
Quarantine wasn’t all bad. I learned some things.
This is one of them.
Did you know, when you get a bunch of green onions (scallions) from the store, or CSA, that if you keep the roots, and stick them in a glass of water, the green parts will regrow?!? I sure didn’t. But I do now, and I constantly have a collection in different stages on my kitchen window sill.
I find it works best when you use a rubber band on the bottom to hold the bunch together, and fill the glass halfway with cold water. You should switch out the water every two or three days. I’m usually able to get 2-4 regrowth out of every bunch, only throwing them away when the white parts get slimy.
