fig bourbon bbq sauce

There’s bbq sauce, and then there is bbq sauce. And this fig bourbon situation? Is bbq sauce.

Tangy and sweet, it serves to perfectly highlight what ever meat you should choose to serve it with.

Ribs. Check.

Chicken. Check.

Burgers. Check.

Salmon. Check.

Sky’s the limit.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup bourbon (I love noble oak)

1 cup ketchup

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

1 Tbsp course ground mustard

8 baby black figs halved

1 Tbsp fish sauce

3 garlic cloves

1 shallot, rough chopped

2 Tbsp evoo

1/4 cup tomato paste

1/2 tsp white pepper

1 cup beef broth

Directions:

Add all ingredients except broth to a sauce pan, and whisk together.

Bring sauce to a boil.

Reduce heat and let simmer for 1 hour.

Use an immersion blender to purée.

Continue to simmer for another hour.

Whisk in broth and simmer for an additional hour.

Remove from heat.
