out and about: sugar and scribe

decaf latte

white chocolate mocha with coconut milk

I recently met a friend for breakfast at sugar and scribe in la jolla. The rain had been putting a wrench in our weekly walking dates, and we were desperate for a good gab/catch-up fest.

So naturally, instead of exercising, we chose to eat. Obviously.

Oh, and drink coffee. Which was delish. Also obviously.

lemon curd pancakes: orange cardamom syrup and seasonal berries

The lemon curd pancakes were gigantic. This picture doesn’t even come close to showing how big they were… enough for 3 breakfasts… at least.

These are also the pancakes most often ordered by my children, when I’ve brought them, so it’s the sweet item that keeps on giving.

posh pig: two scrambled eggs, pepper jack cheese, bacon, smashed avocado, tomato jam, on croissant, english muffin or everything bagel

My biggest problem with sugar and scribe, is that I can never decide what to order. I prolly took a good 10 minutes this time to narrow it down, and then land at the last second on the posh pig.

You guys! The eggs on this sandwich were so light and fluffy, it tasted like eating air. If air was full of flavor and delicious, that is.

I had a choice between salad and potatoes, so I ordered the potatoes. Obviously. I love that they are thinly sliced and crispy. Almost like having au gratin potatoes, but being able to taste the potatoes and not the cheese sauce.
Now, my only problem is figuring out when I can go back to try the other 16 items I almost, but didn’t, order.
