heirloom tomato salad
Nothing takes me back to childhood like the smell of a freshly picked tomato. It reminds me of the garden my grandparents had in their backyard canyon in mission hills.
Fresh tomatoes, and more specifically heirloom tomatoes are like a summer gift that keeps giving, especially in southern californina, where we can usually grow them year round.
I love, love, love tomatoes. And this is a simple way to enjoy them, without any other overpowering flavors.
Ingredients:
5 heirloom tomatoes, sliced
1 ball of burrata cheese
1 1/2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
4 tsp evoo
a few small basil leaves
1/4 tsp finishing salt
Directions:
Arrange tomatoes in a circle on a plate, and top the center slices with burrata. Top with oil, vinegar, salt and basil.
