you need this: yasukochi family farm csa box

Thursday’s are my favorite day of the week. Our whole family’s, really, and not for any reason you might think.

We love thursday’s, because that’s the day our csa is delivered. No joke. Everyone gets excited to see what’s in our weekly box.

For anyone who isn’t in the know; csa stands for community supported agriculture. Basically you pay a small fee, in this case $25 for a regular (1-3 people) box or $35 for a jumbo (4-6 people) box, to help support a local farm, and in return you receive a share of their produce.

Every week on thursday’s a jumbo box filled to the brim with fresh, seasonal, locally farmed fruits and vegetables and a dozen fresh eggs arrive on our doorstep. Always a large variety, and always fresh and delicious. Other than a few items I need for specific recipe development, it’s enough to feed our whole family for the week— not to mention there are weekly add-ons like eggs, honey, olive oil, season fruits and vegetables and fresh flower bouquets.

Last week alone, I received four heads of broccoli, a fresh horseradish root, yams, white potatoes, strawberries, blueberries, apples, parsley, carrots, celery, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, mixed greens, oranges, and mushrooms.

During holiday’s they have special boxes catered around traditional foods you can special order in addition to or in lieu of your regular box, and the customer service is so beyond exceptional that they will accommodate any additional ordering you might want to do, if they have the product available.

In short, the yasukochi family farm csa box is something that you need to add to your weekly grocery repertoire. It won’t disappoint.
