you need this: air fryer

Did you catch my air fried chicken last night? It was the best chicken I’ve ever had… no joke. And this, and a thousand more reasons are why you need an air fryer…

Let’s go back to the beginning. I started to research air fryer’s in general; and loved what I read. The ability to fry chicken, reheat leftovers quickly and crisply, and the brussels… oh, the brussels! In general, I loved everything I read…

However, I was worried that I would feel about the air fryer like I do the instant pot (not a fan, never use it, I like to take my time with cooking) or the slow cooker (only used to keep soup, stews, chili’s, or dips warm during parties and haven’t even gotten around to replacing mine after it broke— because COVID).

So what did I do? I found this model on major sale on prime day.

Yes, it was smaller than I had anticipated, and I would often have to cook for our family of six in batches, but… can we take a moment and talk about the food?

Homemade fries? Taste like they came from a top tier restaurant. Don’t believe me? Try them…

Reheated pizza? Tastes better than when it’s first delivered.

Eggrolls, wontons? So crispy!

And the brussels? The brussels. Restaurant quality? Crispy, tender, in all the right ways.

Even with all the issues based on size and additional cook time - I still used it several times every week. For years.

And then, this week. I finally bit the bullet, and purchased a new air fryer, one with the same great functions, dehydrating, reheating, frying, baking, etc. (plus, it makes toast! waffles! bagels! and any appliance that lets me get rid of two appliances is my kinda appliance jam) but extended capacity so that I can cook for the entire family… at once.

I already made an entire chicken in it last night, all at the same time, no batching necessary - to which my husband declared it the dreaded (yet loved) “moist,” but not just any moist, but the moistest chicken he had ever had, ever. With the crispiest skin. It was perfect! So perfect I couldn’t even pause to set up a picture - we just ate it. And, I’m planning on making it again next week.

I’ve only scratched the surface of this bad boy, but man I’m excited to up my game even more… prepare yourselves… lots of recipes coming your way over the next few weeks! Already planning salmon, fries, crispy zucchini, more chicken, roasted cauliflower, more chicken, frozen pizza, and crispy mushrooms.

You’ve been warned.
